Message: Well, they didn't make a Dakota until 1987 and they only came (stock) with a 7.25 or 8.25 rear. Unless of course somebody swapped one in.
There are differences in axles splines and therefore in what lsd's, lockers, you can use pre-1984 and after. However, ring and pinions should swap into any 9.25 from any year.
