Subject: Truth in HP Rating? IP: Logged
Message: I just read an article in the November 2005 Car and Driver Magazine about the revised procedures for rating HP in cars and trucks. Toyota and Honda who voluntarily performed these new procedures on their line-up shown that some of their vehicles HP & TQ numbers were down.
One truck in particular I looked into was the Tacoma.
Ratings were as followed:
2005 Tacoma 4.0 V6:
245 HP & 282 TQ
2006 Tacoma 4.0 V6:
236 HP & 266 TQ (Manufacturer's Website)
GM tested a few from their line-up showing a slight gain from their advertised HP. I would love to have seen the numbers from all the other auto manufacturers. This just begs the question, “Are you really getting what you paid for?”

Message: What I would love to see is full dyno curves on all these motors instead of just the peak numbers.
