Message: I just bought my first Dakota!!!

Unfortunatlly it does not come with an owners manual, so I was wondering if any body can give me the specs that are in the owners manual. Like oil viscosity tire pressure spark gap, and all of the other specs that I need. Any help is much appreciated.

Message: 10w-30 you should be ok. i run straight 30w year 'round. it rarely gets to freezing down here. spark plug gap is under the hood. i think .040. tire pressure should be on the sticker on the door jamb. depends on your tires really though. mine call for 35psi. get a haynes manual or look at e-vilbay for factoy service manuals. enjoy your Dak. this is by far the best site for Dak info. if you can sign up for a membership here.

Message: tire pressure and tire size are both on a sticker on the latch end of the drivers door, the oil viscosity should be on the oil filler cap itself, and the spark plug gap should be on a sticker on the underside of the hood or the cross member by the hood latch, also there is the belt routing and the electrical schematic on the cross member as well.

Message: check the inside glove box lid or look for a tag on the center section of the diff for gear ratio and such. or your local dodge dealer can use your vin to look up such info.

Message: Well I picked up the truck yesterday, and I already have a problem. Last night the check engine light came on, and today I noticed that in about 30-40 miles it sucked down about a half tank of gas(no lead foot yet). So I figured witht hese symptons a bad o2 censor. I brought it back to the dealer, and they hooked up the obd, and sure enough bad o2 censor. I get it fixed tommarrow. Is this typical for the dakota at 80,000 or should I be looking for a lot of problems with this truck?

Message: That is A-typical at 80K miles. I wouldn't worry about it. It would have happened even if you had the truck from when it was brand new.
The 3.9's are great engines. Browse through the forum and you'll find that out.

Message: Ball joints arent a problem with the older trucks like mine. I have the original ball joints and original timing chain. The ball joints make noise when I forget to grease them but that goes away when I throw some lube at them. Its the sealed ones that gave trouble.
My timing chain doenst make any noise. This is the first I heard of the timing chain being a common problem.
