Subject: brake pads IP: Logged
Message: i need to replace my front brake pads on my 1993 dodge dakota. would anyone be able to give me any advice on how to do this correctly.

Message: 1 Loosen off the lugnuts.
2 block the back wheels
3 place the jack under the crossmember and jack up the front end
4 finish removing the lugnuts
5 remove the wheels
6 loosten the retaining bolts for the calipers
7 remove the calipers(note how the pads are positioned)
8 check discs for any grooves or distortion.(if any detected replace rotors)
9 with old pads still in place, use either a c-clamp or large visegrips to compress the cylinder--- compress the cylinder until the piston is bottomed out.
10 swap old brake pads for new ones.
11 you took it apart, now put it backt together in the opposite order.
If these instructions are to hard to follow, bring it to an actual mechanic, so you don't kill yourself or somebody else while driving.

Message: you forgot to put add grease to piston. that way it doesnt start squeaking on ya.
