Subject: Late model 16" wheels on a Gen 2?
IP: Logged

Message:
Are the later wheels a direct fit?

I have a 94 2WD and would like to go to the larger/wider wheels of the Gen 3.

I think some have posted they had to do minor grinding on the caliper bolts for clearence; so if there's interference, they can be made to work.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I'm surprised there are not more replies on this topic.

From what I can see the later patten is 6 x 4.5". Not sure what Gen2z are. Offset could be an issue even if the holes line up.

Guess that may be the answer. Thanks Me (Mopar318?). Lookin' good.

The earlier comment by Kowalski about grinding the caliper bolts does not seem to be too much of a problem.

Think I'll pick up a wheel and check it out.

Actually "Me" was not acutally me but....yes I do have the 15X8 style rims on my truck. All I had to do is grind about 1/8 inch of the top lip on the upper control arm. I had to use the sticky wieght on the inside so the wieghts would not hit the control arm. It is a tight fit but the look and and the power those wide tires put to the ground is worth it. Some of the dakotas have different brake systems than my 96 but I know on mine I had no interference with the brake system

Heres a pic of one of my rims and tire.
