Message: You could use a leaf blower to blow it mostly dry then chamois it as usual. That would blow all the water out from the 'crooks and nannies'.
I usually dry mine then go for a short drive up the road and touch up the drips.
But yes, the water pooling under the mirrors and in the grille & headlights is annoying.

Message: Well, there are 3 methods of doing this. One is to just do one section at a time, maybe with the Mr. Clean Autodry system and dry it immediately after you rinse the soap, one section at a time. This can still leave spots though.
A second method is to remove the nozzle of your hose, and run a stream of water over your vehicle. This will drastically reduce the number of towels you consume too. It doesn't garuntee no spots, but reduces them significantly. It's your cheapest option. I have not tried this where the water is SEVERELY hard though, so I can't garuntee it works for you.
The third option is to wash the car, let it get spots and scum, and go over it with BeadX, which will take the spots right out and give you a mirror shine. BeadX is like a quick detailer- essentially a very light liquid wax. It affords your finish some protection, and can be used on plastic. I actually recommend you use it on plastic as it affords the plastic UV protection.
Hope this helps!

Message: You know, I think I totally missed the point of your post. Well, I have no answer for that one. Drive it up and down the street I guess, but that kind of defeats the purpose of washing it. It was the one problem I never really learned how to solve as a detailer.
To remove the spots left by drips, BeadX would work though... just go over the truck with the stuff- takes like 15 minutes and you'll like the way it looks when you're done.

Message: Sometimes I like to just haul a$$ up the road (like 60+) to AIR DRY the truck before it spots :)
Then I just do the windows later.

Message: I've been using the Mr. Clean wash system on all
my toys for three years now. I NEVER have a spot
problem, anywhere.
You do have to use it as per directions or it will
not work as well.

Message: Save you money on the Mr Clean thing and get yourself a small 30 gallon drum. Put it under your down spout to collect the rain water. Once you are done washing and rinsing your car with the hose use that water to do a final rinse. It's the same thing as Mr Clean which strips out all the minerals. The water will sheet off leaving no spots.

Message: To wb2nco,
Your post specifically asked about water stains/drips under the side view mirrors.
I take paper towels and slide it under the mirror (the little space between the mirror and the mirror housing) which soaks up all the excess water that normally hides in there.
One other point to make...after washing the vehicle, open all doors, the hood and tailgate and dry everywhere and leave those open for at least 20 minutes to air dry as well. When you start driving, all the water should be gone and no annoying spots from residual water. Plus...you risk of premature rust will decrease since the water is not present, especially under the hood edge.

Message: I think the problem you're talking about is the water that's under the hood. If you don't pop the hood and dry the under edge of the hood and the top of the fender the water blows back right under the rear view mirrors on both sides of the truck when you drive it. I bet if you will dry under there the spots will go away.
