Subject: 2001 Quad Dak cd player

Message:
My cd player stopped working about a week ago. First I thought it just needed a cleaning but the cleaning disc wouldn't even spin. I'm looking at buying a Dak cd player on ebay and was wondering if the wiring harness's are the same for a 2003 Dak cd player? The cd players look identical. Also is is difficult to remove the dash to remove the old cd player?

Thanks for any help

Ritch, not sure about the harness, but I can tell you that it is very easy to remove the factory head unit. you have to pull the black plastic piece that goes around your gauge cluster and around the head unit and HVAC controls. It just pulls off, be careful not to break it, but it does just pop right out, then you have just two bolts that need unscrewed to get the head unit out. Good luck!

When i did car audio professionally about 5 yrs ago it wasn't the color codes you have to worry about its the pin codes and to my knowledge the pin code hasn't changed on dodge in well over 10+ years 1st pin constant, 2nd pin switched, not sure of the others (brain fart) the last 2 pins are the front speaker grounds

CSzalai, not real sure what your talking about because if you buy a wiring harness from wally-world or circuit city that is made for your vehicle, you don't have to worry about the wiring on the vehicle itself because the harness just plugs right into the same harness that the factory head unit plugs into... you just have to hardwire the harness you buy to the aftermarket head unit harness, which is where the color codes are the same universally.

There are two screws in the dask panel you have to remove. They screw up into the dask from the gauge cluster. It does just pull out other than that.

If you don't get that one on Ebay, LMK. I have one from my '02. Works fine, just had a new head from my old vehicle that I installed. $40 shipped in the U.S. sound good?
