Message: here's what a 40 mph side impact looks like...
amazingly, my wife walked away from it even though the driver's side seat was pushed over where the center console was. The door is pushed in as far as the center of the steering wheel and there are several inches of space between the ground effects and the body of the car... the a-pillar also seperated from the chassis (one piece design). All she got was a bruise from her seat belt
i bet that cavalier could of been going pretty fast.. just the caravan brushed up against it.

Message: Who are you talking about, me or Graphite? I did get rear ended and the other lady was going 40MPH. Her airbags went off and her front end took the damage and not my truck.

that is a link to my cardomain site I just put up today. There is not much on it but it shows the rear end damage of my truck.

Message: todds full of $hit. he may investigate wrecks but Im a EMT and have seen plenty of people that got rearended and walked away. some broke windows. some dont. dodge has a very thing rear window compared to a lot of other trucks. some hurt their necks, some loose teeth, some get a bleeder in their skull. everyone is different. the same reason a 18 year old kid can take a tumble down a flight of stairs, fall out of a tree and not break anything but you do the same thing with a 30 year old and there will be broken bones. everyone is different. to call bulls hit on this one the way he did, is stuid and proves hes full of s hit.

Message: Ha my old 91 Dakota hit the drivers side of a brand new Chevy Venture a couple years ago...the Venture was totalled, and I drove away with a broken grille, cracked drivers side headlight, and a bent bumper. It was my fault, I got a ticket, but they tried sueing me and didn't get very far because they were illegal immigrants.

Dude, I'm telling you that accident didn't occure at 40.
As for the moron claiming to be an EMT...most EMT's I know have a brain in their head and you obviously don't. You're a liar and a scum sucker.

Message: Okay, there are a lot of factors when looking into an MVA, for instance, I have recently been on a call that involved an elderly woman that had driven off the side of the road and into a ditch, did not strike anything, however, the angle that she had gone into the ditch at caused her passenger side front suspension to bust free at the strut mount, smashed in the fender, and cause the airbags to deploy.....and did I mention that this particular mva happened as the woman was pulling away from a stop sign and the car came to rest approx 75 feet from the stop sign? Now do the math, pulling away from a stop sign in a chevy lumina and getting 75 feet away from it.. actually about 65 feet away from it, speed was NOT a factor here, just the angle of impact... Second example, one of the Lieutenants in my F.D. was involved in a head on MVA three weeks ago in his 1997 Ford F-350 Crew Cab, woman delivering papers drove into his lane on a main highway, he struck her head-on going approx 55mph, actually drove OVER top of the drivers side of her car, now, it did take us approx. 1hr 45min to cut the woman out of her impala, however, the only damage to the truck, was the drivers side rim/tire came off after the studs all broke.... no other damage to his truck... again, WAY to many factors come into play to call ANYTHING b.s... just remember, whenever you think you've seen the strangest thing, something more strange WILL happen!!

Message: Back in 1998, a former co-worker of mine just bought a brand new silverado extended cab 4x4. He was t-boned by a car (can't remember which kind). The car sustained little damage, minor front fender work - no frame damaage. His truck's frame was bent a little. The accident occurred in downtown indianapolis. The investigating officer said the speed the car was traveling was 35-40mph (speed limit was 35).
Needless to say, after insurance fixed the truck, he traded it in on a dodge ram extended cab 4x4.
My dakota was hit my an old man in an old ford LTD while turning, he was driving probbaly 5-7 mph, i had one smooth dent from rear well to bumper, the entire section had to be replaced.
I hit a ford minivan at the end of the drivers door where it overlaps the frame because some teen driving it did a 4 lane change in front of me. I was skidding (tires smoking) from 35. I only got paint of the corner of my bumper, the minivan's door was bent in. The driver had to push hard to get the door open.
The point being, speed is a factor, but not always the deciding factor in damage to a vehicle.
