Subject: Best tires IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking for new tires for my truck and was wondering what people's opinions are as far as the best ones and what size.
I have a 92 2wd with the stock 15x7 wheels and was looking at the firestone firehawks 500 (225 70r15.) At tirerack.com it got pretty high ratings from customers. I'm looking for a tire with good all-season properties and with great traction of the line. Right now i just burn rubber off the line and will chirp second gear even with my limited slip. While it's fun it's telling me I'm not getting my full acceleration potential.

Message: After doing about a month of research, the cheapest and best performance all-season tire is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. I'm getting them mounted on my minivan tomorrow.

Message: That's the general consensus I came to as to tires. They look good also.
Tell me how it turns out and how they perform.

Message: Go with Kelly Charger Tires. I run 255/60/15 on my 96 dak and they are the best tires I have every had in my opinion. Almost not slippage off the line with the tires. They outperformed my old firestone but wear a tad bit faster maybe 5000 miles less out of them.

Message: BFG's offer the best overall price with gription and lasting life. They hold the road well and very predictable when pounding the apex of a corner. They also have a great tread wear life too...
but once you are ready to get real serious about a tire, there is no finer choice in the world better than a Michelin.

Message: I have really good experience with the Cooper Cobra and Cooper Discover tires. First are more for the summer, but the second one is good all year. Good grip, nice look and it doesn't eat as much gas as BFG All Terain

I didn't see that when I posted my original response. What size tire do you need?

Message: I had the Briggstone Revos and the traction is good, but they are were noticably noiseier than the Michelin LTX that they replaced. I put them on my son's Dak as he doesn't mide the noise and likes the traction. I now have a set of Yoka Geolanders and really like them so far.

Message: Honestly, I've had the best luck with Firestones and Bridgestones. No other tire I've owned has stood up to what I put these brands through. Also, they are MUCH easier on the wallet than comparable Michelin. My choice for Firestones would be either the Destination LE (what I currently have on my 00 4x4 Dak) or the Destination A/T if you need the extra off-road traction. The Dest LE are excellent all-season tires and don't do too shabby off-road either. It is a 60k mile tire as well (50 to 55k realistically).

Message: Another suggestion is for you to go to tirerack.com and search for your size of tire. Then read the customer reviews and customer ratings (wet traction, dry traction, snow, tread wear, etc) to find the right tire for you.
