Message: I wouldn't do that on my truck. I didn't particularly like it on the old cars, either.
But who cares what I think? It's not my truck. Do whatever floats your boat. If you're happy with it, that's all that counts.

Message: For a minor "ram air" effect with the stock airbox, remove the rubber flap between the radiator and headlight ('97-'04), and the stock 90 degree snorkel airbox inlet. Install a Fernco "no-hub" 4" or 4"-to-6" inlet from Home Depot or Lowe's plumbing supplies. I cut a 2"x4" slot in the side of the Fernco 6" to draw air from the stock fender airflow location, and used the 6" hose clamp to keep the outer lip of the Fernco round. The Fernco serves as a cool air grabber for air coming through the former rubber flap area. Cost: about $7-$10.
