Subject: 2004 Windshield Problem IP: Logged
Message: Hi,
Somebody with a 2004 dakota please do a favor for me. I've just have had my windshield replaced and there is no rubber seal going across the top of the windshield where it meets the roof. there are rubber seals on each side though. i was told by the body shop and windshield company that 2004's don't have the top piece. Could somebody who as an 04 factory windshield check theres and see in fact if there is a rubber seal going across the top.
Thank You

Message: My 03 doesn't have the strip on top either, when I saw it I said WTF, now were really getting cheap if they can't put the top strip in the windshield. Now the question is when and why did they stop putting the top strip on the windshield.

Message: Follow-up:
Went to my local helpful Dodge parts dept yesterday and picked up the trim piece that goes across the top of the windshield. $13. I can post the part number if anyone wants it.
Haven't installed it yet. Still trying to figure it out how. It's all rubber, unlike the side pieces that have a metal core where they're screwed to the body, and kinda stiff. The channel part that mates to the glass has a goopy adhesive in the bottom of the channel, just like the plastic stick-on door edge protectors you can buy in auto part stores, so you can't just remove a side piece and slide it into place.
From the way it's shaped, it doesn't appear that it can be laid over the gap and pushed down into place, either.

Message: Question for AndrewZ:
Does your top windshield trim piece tuck under the side trim pieces, or the other way around?
On my side pieces, the rubber part that's on the windshield stops even with the top of the glass.
