Subject: New Rotors IP: Logged
Message: As many of you have experienced, the front rotors on my '00 4.7L dakota are now dumpster material. Is there a consensus on which brand / model of rotor / pad will give a robust replacement?
Thank you

Message: I sell and use Powerslots on both of my Dakota RTs... have had great performance from them.
They are on my website, check them out.

Message: I have a 2000 QC 4x4 and I put on Raybestos SuperStop Rotors and Pads from RockAuto. Including the original rotors, I put on three sets in 30,000 miles. I haul a utility trailer almost every weekend loaded with 3 dirt bikes with misc gear and equipment. But since I put the SuperStops on some 50,000 miles ago I've had zero problems with the front rotors. I also adjust me rear brakes every oil change, which is 5,0000 miles.

Message: Swapped out the original warped rotors with Raybestos rotors and pads at around 9000 mi.
Better braking and no problems for 30,000 mi. since then.

Message: I just replaced my fronts with Powerslots and Ceramic pads about to do the back sets Thursday. I'm really pleased with the Powerslot/ceramic combo so far. Definitely far less brake fade than the stock pieces.

Message: Raybestos SuperStop rotors and pads on my 00 CC, worked like a charm, even with towing a 3500# boat a couple times a month. I got them hot a couple of times dropping down long grades, could smell them babies burnin, but they never warped. If they had been stock or cheap replacement rotors they would have warped for sure. Got them from rockauto.com also.

Message: I had the Raybestos superstops on my 02 qc 4x4 sport+ and warped 2 sests in under 25k. I do tow a boat but the trailer has brakes, the rears were also in good adjustment. The final straw with the raybestos ones were on the third set when i had a caliper lock up and ruined one. I replaced them with Bendix rotors from advance autp parts and Performance friction carbon metalic pads. I have about 25k on these mostly towing and around town and no sign of warpage or any grooving of the rotor. The bendix/performance friction combo is working very well for me.

Message: jb, if you warped 3 sets of SuperStops in 25K I wonder if the calipers were the root problem. I had the SuperStops on my 00 CC for 50K and they never warped, even towing my 3500# boat WITHOUT trailer brakes.
