isnt that what most fuel injector cleaners are made from is kerosene. I have heard of putting some in but not that much to clean the fuel system.

As far as I know kerosene is a similar product to jet fuel and will increase hp, BUT I think eventually there will be harm done to the engine due to the extra heat and torque. Possibly burn valves off or worse. That is why fuel system cleaner is dispensed in small amounts.

Most injector cleaners are isopropyl alcohol.
Kersoene is a tad closer chemistry wise to diesel fuel than jet fuel...

Isopropyl is used in good fuel line anti freeze. Naptha finds it's way into injector cleaners. Kerosene belongs to the alkane family of distillates.
Jet fuel is kerosene. No2 diesel is very close to JetA but both are covered by different ASTM requirements.
So the question really could read, "Can I burn Diesel #1, Jet A or Kerosene in my Dakota?"
The answer is no.

Are you guys crazy???? Jet fuel, otherwise known as JP8 & JP10 in the military is pretty much glorified diesel fuel!! Your Dak is NOT designed to burn those fuels and although I am not certified to give engine advice I do know what happens first hand when someone accidentally puts JP8 into a gasonline engine. It farts real bad and then takes a royal dump on you! I know because I got reprimanded for it. I don't know how bad it permanently damages your engine but I can tell you from first hand experience that the people that repair our military vehicles said I sent the GMC pickup I filled with 1/4 tank of JP8 straight to automotive hell. Don't flame me because I don't know everything. If this is of any worth to ya'll, you might want to reconsider this.

WEll what the hell!!! Why don't I just add about 10 gallons of pure rubbing alcohol in my tank along with some Kerosine and about a gallon for 93 oct gasoline.
Now I just wonder if I could blow some fire out of my exaust. Make it light up like a afterburner.

We ran JP4& JP5 in the jets on the aircraft carrier I was on. JP= Jet Propelant..4 = amount of Kero to Avgas. JP4= 4 parts Kero to 1 part Avgas. They told me they put the avgas in it to make it burn easier. They use different grades for the temp and climate of where they are flying.JP4 would be used in a colder temp. I will not take responsability for the accuracy of any of this . It's just what I was told by people that should know. Dan

If anyone has noticed, the person who started this thread has yet to add anything else. My guess is, he wanted to start an argument and he got his wish.
Bottom Line...read the owner's manual and it will tell you what you can/cannot put in your tank.
If you put anything not covered in the owner's manual, you might as well let your dog piss on your warranty.

I know when I was in the air force our bombers ran JP-4 all year round. then about 95 I think. we switched to JP-8. talk about a crap fuel there. the engines ran like crap. but must be cheaper for them.
but looking through our fuel charts in the bombers. we could accually burn kero and desiel in the engines but need to change out the fuel metering valves. but yes jet fuel is kero with hydrocarbons and a few other things in it. if you ever have touched the stuff it feels really oily like kero unlike gas.
as far as afterburners do you know how that system works? there are fuel nozzles in the exhaust cone that sprays fuel and is ignited by the exhaust. so if yo uwant that. run a fuel line and a spark plug to your exhaust pipe. then you can have afterburners too. maybe we should tell ricers they could get 100 extra HP by doing this lol

Well, I've herd of that method before at a car show. The don't just shoot out fire. they blow it out 3ft from the bumper. And you get warmed up fast in the cold.
But you can use a special high oct fuel with some nitro running though the manifode and you can shoot out some blue flames out of your exaust.

Yes, It shoots out some blue flame!!
I've seen that in some ricers durring a street race.
Also what you can do is pure some liquid down your intake manifold and weight a few sec and then watch some blue flame shoot out of your exuast.

You could, but you be stupid to try it as it would royally f#@k up your cylinders/valves/glow plugs/pistons. Truckers like to use it during the winter to thin out the fix a tiny bit, and the engine starts easier.(but I am talking about 1 gallon kero to about 50 gallons of gas)
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Yes, you can burn kerosene in your diesel engine. It is not cost effective. Ever notice that the kero pumps have a 2' hose on them, makes it kinda tough to fill your tank.

my great uncle burns fuel oil for oil furnaces in his diesel once ina while, if he stumbles across somebody ditching thier old fuel tanks and there is still oil in them
dont know if it ruined anything or not though

You can't burn out your glow plugs in your Cummins B motor becuase there arn't any to burn out.
But you can Burn Kerosine as longs has your still useing diesal. I see farmers doing that in the winter due to cold starts.
