Subject: Snow tires: Gen II wheels on a Gen III? IP: Logged
Message: I am looking at buying some rims for snow tires for my 2000 Quad Cab 4WD. I saw some 1997 Dakota 2WD wheels for sale for a good price.
Would I be okay using the Gen II wheels on my Gen III truck? I know there are rubbing problems going from Gen III to Gen II. But I haven't heard of anyone going the other way.
Also, I'm currently running 31x10.50R15 tires on my stock rims. Assuming the Gen II rims work, and I get them mounted with the slightly smaller 235/75/R15 snow tires, do I need to do anything with my truck for the speedometer, odometer, ABS, etc?
Thanks in advance,
-A

Message: I thought '97 was first year of gen 3 ? Size is close enough; that's what I run in winter - definitely no ABS problems, speedometer and odometer will be slightly off. I use the skinnier 7" factory mags for my snows.
