Subject: towing with my 93 cc 4x4 auto v8 IP: Logged
Message: i got a 1993 dakota with a 318, auto, club cab, and 4x4. my question is, i just got a 30' 1984 travel trailer. it has electronic braking. really good condition too. can i tow this thing? its not the 5th wheeler. it tows by the hitch. my friend says i can tow it no problem, but i suppose i would ask anyways. how much would this thing weigh?

Message: I estimate this to be about 6000 lbs plus I had about 500 lbs of gear & parts in the bed of the green truck. Lags a little on steep hills but it pulls it fine.

Message: Probably weighs about a similar amount to what Walt is pulling. You might find weight googling year, make, and length of trailer. Make sure you set up a brake controler for the electric brakes, and you will likely want an equilizer hitch for that size trailer. You want about 10% of weight on the tongue for proper handling; if that squats the rear too much just use equilizer hitch.
