Guys, I have been changing the oil regularly on my 2000 Dak quadcab 4 x 2 with a 4.7L engine. I have not been doing any chassis lube. Are there any lube points that I have been neglecting? Thanks, sam

Hi Sam, You haven't neglected them the factory did. They saved some money by not putting ball joints etc. on the front end with grease zerks hence all the problems and recalls posted here on the forum. I don't have a service manual yet for my '02 QC but i crawled around underneath and didn't notice anything I could lube...Mark

my '99 3.9 supposedly has none, although the tie rod ends do indeed have zerks, and do indeed need grease.

Stupid question...but how do you grease them properly? I understand buying a grease gun and adding grease through the zerks...but how much grease do you add? I've never done it before...which is why I ask...so I can actually do it. Might fix the popping in my front-end as well...which I've been able to rule out ball joints.

GB2000 - about 3 pumps is enough for most zerk fittings so you don't blow the seals out. Exceptions - greasable slip joints on drive shafts, and pins on tractor buckets - keep pumping til you see grease coming out.
