Message: might be a stupid Q. but are you using CD-r or CD-rw? I know cd-rw wont play in a cd player. other than that it should play.

Message: Some older CD players were not set up to play any type of CD-R.
Burining CD's did not become common until around 2003. Many
CD players will not "see" a CD-R disk, no matter what the
quality. My CD player in my 04 will see CD-R's most of the time,
but not always, even using higher end CD-R's.
You may want to replace your CD player with an updated
version. If you choose to go this route, make sure it can play
CD-R, CD-RW, and MP-3 files. You can store about 3 times the
info in MP-3 format.
Good Luck.

Message: Make sure you burn your cds in 'DISC-AT-ONCE' mode, or check the little box that says "close session." You do not want to be able to add more files later. If you burn your cds so you can add files later, your computer will recognize the data on the disc just fine but your truck deck won't.

Message: i have the same problem with my 01' Ram, and my dads old 94' LeBarron
i now play all ym burnt CDS, they trick
i switched from EZ CD creator to Nero, got higher quality CD-Rs (Verbatim, the ones that look like old records) and last but not least, i burn them at 8x rather than 52x, its takes longer but i dont know if the laser burns deeper or what the deal is, but it works.
also, some burners/software have the option to set how deep the lasr burns, drive setting that higher

Message: I saw mags touched base on this briefly but only as options for a new player.
You need to make sure your not trying to play your CD's with the music burned in MP3 format either. I believe the only way they will pay on your stock player is in CD format or .wav format.

That's silly. The CD burners were selling like mad in the 1997 era...
Back then it was hit and miss getting players to work.
Most of the above ideas should help. Do disk at once, or select "close disk after burning" etc. Then the Deck can boot the disk.
Also like said, make sure it is CDDA format (.wav) not mp3.
Other than that, go upgrade to a mp3 deck, or go crazy like me when 150 songs isn't enough and rip the entire head unit out and go 100% computer based. Then you can go crazy selecting from 10,000 songs on your hard drive. Imagine having every CD you own, your friends own, and that you have downloaded all on your trucks hard drive :)
Now talking DVD-R's. When we got our 2004 Grand Caravan SXT it would skip on some DVD-R's and not play some.
I took the bastard apart and got a hair up my butt to try something as a last resort....
I painted all of the shiny metal shielding that was around the lens area BLACK and put it back together.
That did the trick. I reduced the reflected light enough to get my stock 6 disk DVD changer to play all of my burned DVD's. It's actually the kids that watch them...
Hope that helps. I've posted some pix on my site.
