Subject: Dead Speedo, Brake and ABS light on IP: Logged
Message: I had an interesting problem in my 1998 Dakota Sport 4x4 Club Cab.
Started the truck, put her in gear, and noticed the speedometer was stuck at 0mph, my Brake light, ABS light, and Check Engine light were on.
Everything else worked great, including my tachometer.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

Message: I would say rear wheel speed sensor but usually that would also include driveability issues.

Message: What kind of driveability issues?
For the last 6 months, the truck as been dying for no reason, and without the check engine light coming on. Usually it starts right back up, either by itself at highway speeds, or manually if at slow speeds or idle.
Do you think these things may be related?

Message: The ABS light and dead speedo would most likely be the wheel speed sensor. I think mine is on my diff in the rear.
The stalling would not be that. I'd be looking more into the crank or cam position (hall effect) sensor being worn.
But you should get a check engine light for that.
Unless your ignition wiring is just loose somewhere simply cutting power to your PCM . That wouldn't throw a code I bet.

Message: Check your fuses. Mine did that once and it was a blown fuse. I forget which one it was. Maybe # 4 or 5. Dan

Message: had that on my 04 along with the A/C not working and throwing a P0501 code. (RWSS)? not really, it was the ignition switch. Thank goodness for the warranty and Quality 5-star dealers.
