Message: i HAVE A 2002 DAKOTA QUAD, REPLACES BRAKES ON FRONT, TURN'T ROTORS BECAUSE OF BOUNCING AND SHAKING WHILE STOPPING, NOW THEY ARE DOING IT AGAIN 9 MONTHS LATER, EVEN RIGHT SIDE SMOKES WHEN IT GETS HOT THEN SHAKES GOING DOWN THE ROAD, THEY ARE WARPED, AGAIN, SEEMS TO ME IT SHOULD BE A RECALL, PEOPLE SAY MY WIFE MAY HAVE RUN THROUGH A WATER HOLE, THAT CAUSED WARPS, YET i HAVE HAD 3 TRUCKS OR MORE, ABOUT 9 CARS , THEY NEVER DID THIS. i BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECTED PART, i MAY AS WELL REPLACE IT ALL WITH NEW ROTORS BRAKES AND ALL, IF THAT DON'T SOLVE IT, THEN SOMEBODY IS GOING TO BE NOTIFIED. iF WATER WARPS ROTORS THEN WHY IS IT MOST ARE FINE, EVEN IF IT RAINS SUDDENLY WITH FLOODING PUDDLES, i DON'T BELIEVE IT, i BELIEVE THE ROTORS ARE DEFECTED PARTS, HAD TRANS PROBLEMS IN THE DRIVE TRAIN INSIDE PART, ONLY 60,000 MILES AT THE TIME, BUT CHRYSLER WOULDN'T HELP. THEY SAID IF IT WAS INSIDE THE TRANS, THEN THEY WOULD , WELL THE MECHANICS HAD TO DROP THE TRANS, THEN GO INSIDE IT , SO ......THE DRIVE TRAIN IS SUPPOSE TO BE COVERED NO MATTER WHAT FOR 80,000 MILES ???????? sINCE WE HAD IT THE GEARS DON'T EVEN CHANGE RIGHT, ON TIME EXSPECIALY IN OVERDRIVE.....fOR A 3.9 MAGNUM V6 IT SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF POWER, IT DON'T.......i LOVE THE TRUCH ALWAYS WANTED ONE LIKE IT, GREY, AND TOUCH LOOKING, BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE GIVING ME ALL THESE PROBLEMS. i KNOW OTHER HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS, SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THE DEALERSHIPS, MANUFATORYS

Message: why don't you try taking the truck back to whoever did your brakes and ask them to diagnose the problem instead of just ASSuming the rotors need to be recalled.
my rotors are fine.

Message: If your right side brakes are smoking. then your caliper is sticking. this is what is causing your rotor to warp on that side. better get that fixed ASAP.

Message: What's with the shouting (CAPS!) dude ? Makes your post hard to read...
What's this 80,000 drive train warranty you are talking about ? Have you confused the drive train with the Federal emissions warranty ?
Why do you think a 3.9 should have plenty of power ? I thought it was a real dog when I test drove one; opted for the v8.
Good luck with your brakes, sounds like you should check that right caliper like Jecht says - replacing everything in a panic is not the best way to go about this. Another problem we can see is brake pad transfer; where some pad sticks to the rotor after hard braking, making them feel like they are warped when they aren't. Light braking can clean that up. Sounds like you have something more going on though; have a qualified mechanic diagnose the problem rather than replacing everything in a fit !
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: Your biggest problem is you shouldn't type with the caps lock on like Kowalski said. It really does make it hard to read. The second problem is you are carrying on like a second grader who hasn't mastered the english language or spelling. Slow down, take a deep breath and try again; you're rambling man.
It's a defective part, not a DEFECTED PART.
It's a truck, not a TRUCH.
It's manufacturer, not MANUFATORYS.
You turned the rotors, not TURN'T.
It's especially, not EXSPECIALY.
If this is how you are addressing your local dealer, my guess is he's laughing his butt off.

Message: I do have to agree with Andrews as our 2000 Dakota now has 90,000 miles on it and we have replaced the rotors twice the rear drums once. The rotors needed turned two weeks after the last replacement. Which tells me they (rotors)are to thin. Unfortunately the are no after market ones availble yet.
Keep in mind this truck is used for interstate driving.

Message: I talked with a friend who runs a garage where tires and brakes are their main source of income. He stated it really doesn't matter the make of vehicle. Most rotors are thinner nowadays to cut down on weight, plus the softer metals coming in from overseas plays a big part in it. Don't know if it's the whole truth, but it does make some sense. He said Dodges are not the only ones experiencing these problems.

Message: I've got the same problem with my 03. The originals warped at less than 20,000 miles.I lived with it because the pads still had a lot of life left. Replaced front pads and rotors and less than 8,000 miles later they warped again. These were Raybestos PG rotors. I'll be damned If I know what the real solution is.

Message: No you don't. Dodge engineered a marvelous brake system and if you have problems with it you are stupid and you know nothing about engineering.
Take it to your mechanic and insist that he tell you exactly what is wrong with it. You stupid ass hole.

Message: From what I've read (and heard), the replacement rotors that NAPA gets seem to do pretty good.
Anybody have any experience with them? I thought I saw it on a previous post, but I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, so I probably ran right over it.

Message: Some of you are wrong, in the head. Obviously you understood his message, yet are wrapped up in your own selfish "give me" attitudes. (DC employees posting?) Too much time on your hands, or a bunch of bored english teachers.
Either help him or ignore it, dont flame him.(sign of an ignorant mind) This is an informative forum, not a chat room.
Ps. There are numerous posts on the issue, so it must have some credence. My 98dak has had the issue.
A great big thanks to those who are willing to help, you have definitely saved me a bunch of cash, that I can now use for gas!

Message: I don't know if anyone has said this before but, one thing I was told was that the torque on the lugs plays a big part in the rotors warpping. You can get a cheep torque wrench for 20-25 bucks. Plus the design of our stock rims are wide open. This make the rotors prone to getting wet. Hot to cold will warp the rotors. My '03 has 35k on original rotors and just switched to ceramic pads. Rotors seem ok still. And I do a mix of driving.
