Subject: high-mileage 4.7s?

I'm curious how the 4.7 liter trucks are holding up. How many miles have you got on one? And what have you needed to replace?

I've got 48,000 miles (in 19 months) on a 2000 Club Cab Sport full-time 4x4 automatic with nearly every option. Only thing I've replaced is the brake rotors and pads. Got about 5,000 miles left in the original 31-inch Wranglers. Will probably replace the shocks soon as they have gotten too soft for off-road use. Still fine on pavement, though.

Let's hear your stories.

I have 43K miles on mine, and I am getting ready to replace the tires, but that's about it.

45000 mi in 10 months, still one of those obnoxious 4.7 guys who cant stop talking about his freaking engine.Seriously though no probs yet. Still got lots of brake but I dont use them much.I have wrangler p235 (28.5") tires and they are just about cooked, will have to replace soon.I think dodge has got a good motor going for them I hope the rest of the truck will keep up.I read the posts about brakes and front ends, but so far so good.My shocks seem to be going south but that is pretty standard for any new truck.

Below is part of an article that I read prior to buying my 2001 CC, 4.7, AWD Dak.

Web Site - www.allpar.com/mopar/47.html

"The new coil-on-plug ignition system, two-stage chain cam drive with automatic tensioners, premium gaskets and cylinder head mounted fuel injectors are a few of the basic design features that provide for a greatly increased engine life. The engine is designed to operate 150,000 miles (240,000 km) under normal conditions without part replacement other than normal maintenance items."
