Message: Anybody have any input on good aftermarket alarm systems? I bought my truck when I lived in the middle of nowhere, so not a single truck on the lot had an alarm. Now I live in the Philly suburbs, and I would like to keep owning my Dak. I have a 2000 CC 4x4, power windows and locks with keyless entry. I would like a system that will integrate with my equipment and give good security at a reasonable price. Any suggestions???

Message: Well... I have a Viper 550E on mine, which ran me about $399.
It has all the standard features (starter kill, shock sensors, LEDs, soft chirp & no chirp) plus as a bonus it has "remote start"... very nice for warming up the truck on a cold day...
For the money... I love this alarm!

Message: DEI Viper systems are ok. they don thave all of the features the Clifford has... mine also remote starts the truck, rolls the windows up and down, pages me when it goes off..... true the insalled price is about $900 but its worth it... i bought mine for about 400 and installed it myself. The thing I like most about my system is that i can connect my laptop and do a diag and system changes to it.

Message: I have the cheapest Viper Alarm system, and i'm very pleased. it can be upgraded with additional features if i want to... but since my 87 Dak isn't really worth stealing, I"m not going to worry about upgrading. I just got the alarm to protect my 800 dollar sound system, Cd Radio, Cell phone, etc. The remote start wouldn't work on my truck because i don't have real fuel injection.. bummer. I hate getting out in the cold and warming up my beast ofa truck :)

Message: I have a Code Alarm. I had some problems with it at first and the after market dealer replaced the brain. Works fine now with no probs. Cost about $200 including install. Does not have remote start but I don't need it. The control replaces the keyless entry pad.

Message: I have an 08 Dakota,2WD,4dr,3.7l eng. Problem:
Several times when weather became cold,my keyless
entry wouldn't work-had to slide open rear glass,
use a rod and unlock rear door, then alarm went off, raised hood and disconnected battery, reconnected battery abd all was normal.
Yesterday this happened again. Did same procedure
as above, truck started then went dead.Unable to
start again. Battery good, doors & windows work
with remote, but no start. Any suggestions?
