I got a 98 with the 5.2 and 5-speed, How can I tell what tranny I got. They offered 2. I looked in the glove box, nothing there about what model. I read in a previous post that one of the trannys that a person has, has a throw on it that was way long anyways i don't know about you but mine is a 4inch throw from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th. I don't think that is that long considering my dads crap ford is more like 12inches. Back to the main reason, where do I find what model of tranny I got.

I'm not even sure this will work, but look in your owner's manual and see about the sticker on your door -- there should be a bunch of information you can decode from the numbers on it. For example, there should be a way to tell your gear ratio, what axles you have, your transmission, and a bunch of other useless stuff like what position your truck rolled off the factory line in and what state it was built in... Good luck.

True, on the door is a body code plate, in the lower left hand corner is the transmission code. its on the same line as the VIN number
