Subject: Anyone had this happen? IP: Logged
Message: I make a trip, bout 3 hrs there and parked the truck. Everything was working fine. When I went out to my truck the next morning, the power door locks did not work. When I got into the truck (scared to death it would not run, and i had an important appointment) the interior lights did not work. The truck started, but then found out that the headlights did not work, all the dash lights were out, to include power to the transfer case switch (which caused my "service 4 wheel drive" light to come on). All the gauges, and the blinkers worked. Before my trip back I checked the fuses, all were good. When I got back I did the only sensible thing to do, started tearing it apart. Took apart the dash, looked over all the wires underneath to see if I could find one burnt out. Then I started taking off the main fuse block under the hood. After fiddling with it a bit, it all started working again. I think it might have been a loose connection, or maybe the computer had to be reset (I disconnected the battery). So, sorry for the long post, but has this happened to anyone else?

Message: sound to me like the central timer module that is located by the drivers side kick panel could possible be at fault there, not a 100% sure but usually the dash lights, interior lights and the key fobs all run off of that timer module, here is a link that properly explains the whole deal, good luck to you.

Message: Qeorge how old are you? you either sound like an old man in his 60's or a 16 year old boy that has no clue what the hell he is talking about or half retarded, i'm sorry but come on man get a clue will you please. i mean come on this site says dodge dakotas not "all dodge vehicle please report here", we are here to talk about our dakotas not our rams or to try and sell our other chevy cars, so maybe if you search the web hard enough maybe you can find a site that best suites your needs Qeorge.

Message: This happened to me about 3 weeks ago. (2003 Quad Cab 4X4 4.7L)
Engine starts, but no power locks, headlights, or wipers.
Took it to the dealership. They said it was the CTM (Central Timer Module). They said that they got it working again by resetting it using diagnostics. When you disconnected the battery you probably accomplished the same thing. They replaced it (free) under warranty, just in case.

Message: Yeah, like. It's not like full-size Rams and Dakotas have anything in common. I mean, like they have totally different engines and stuff. Hey KJS, why don't you lighten up a little?

Message: When they replaced your alt. they disconnected your battery which reset the computer so that may be what fixed your problem. I hope the alt. was free

Message: OK, I already know you guys are going to give me a hard time, 'cause I have a '94 Dak with a 3.9; but, here goes...I lost my running lights, tach, and horn just going down the road. Hit a bump and back on again. Ended up being a corroded contact in the firewall connector that goes from the under hood fuse box to under the driver side dash
A big 10 gauge looking red wire. I fixed it by splicing a piece of #10 THHN, and bypassing the connector, pushing the wire through a rubber grommet a splicing it again under the dash.
Don't know what the later model Daks have for wiring, but it's worth a look.
