I would highly doubt it'd be considered 'safe' or legal...MAYBE if the airbag is turned off...but even then, I don't know.

ONLY...and I mean ONLY if you can disable the passenger airbag.

I know the '98's have this option, but for the life of your child, you need to disable it (light ON).

Then, and ONLY then, a REAR facing baby seat.

You could just stop at your local police station and ask them. They are usually more than willing to help with that. I'm sure they would rather have you ask now than when it's to late.

Ryan--

I agree that it needs to be rear facing and you need to have the airbag turned off. Even then it is highly discouraged. It would also depend on your state laws--what state are you in?

I have a CC and can manage to fit the baby seat in the middle part of the back seat if I keep the armrest down. Still, I don't think this is the ideal setup as I have read that the base of the seat is designed so that the front part flips up in the event of an impact to minimize any force on the baby's body. Mine is a little crammed in back there. Plus, it is a pain to get to her if she needs a bottle or whatever.

Anyone else have a baby seat in the back of a CC?

[off topic, but this reminds me that my dad built some kind of metal bar across the inside of his camper shell, and he and my mom would literally hang my car seat from it and I would ride back there. They would keep the rear sliding window open and tend to me through it.]
