2K dakota with limited slip differential
This noise is getting louder every day... sound is hard to describe. Wife says my discriptions would be X rated.

Message: You should start by checking the level in the rear end. If low add some oil of course. Try adding some modifier for limited slip rear ends. That may shut it up. You didn't say if the rear end oil has been changed but if it has and no modifier was added then you have found your problem. A tip I learned on tuning limited slip rear ends was to change oil and then add just enough modifier to stop it from chattering or groaning.

Message: Chrysler has been using the Dana Trac-Loc for years, my '89 jeep XJ (cherokee) had one before i swapped it out for an air locker
it is one of the best LSD's short of a detroit TrueTrac or similar geared aftermarket LSD
and the only thing better than that is a full locker

Message: I took my 2000 Dakota in for service this past week for the same problem sound in the rear diff that you're experiencing. The fix was exactly as Wayne mentioned above. They replaced diff. fluid and added "friction modifier" and the noise is completely gone.

Message: My 2000 LSD was making a nasty sound during slow turns also. I took it to the dealer and they added silicone fiction modifier. The noise is gone and I am happy.
