Message: You do just as well to save the time and get a plug in harness, modify that to your needs. I took an off the shelf 4pin type and modded it into a 7pin socket (using a groovy vintage Mopar parts socket with a cast in penta star on the cover) for my trailer with brakes.
If your really into it, I suppose you could go at the trucks harness with a test lamp...

Message: If you start with a pigtail from an RV supply place, this is fairly simple; many will include a wiring diagram. For a 7 pin set up, here's the common colors/sizes/use:
#1 white, 10 gage, common ground
#2 blue, 12 gage, electric brake
#3 green, 14 gage, tail, liscense, running
#4 black, 10 gage, battery charge
#5 red, 14 gage, stop & left turn
#6 brown, 14 gage, stop & right turn
#7 (center) yellow, 14 gage, extra auxillary circuit
The numbers jump around, once you get the pigtail to start with this should make sense; but if you're confused once you have the pigtail in hand just post again and I'll tell you which pin is which #.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way
