I'm looking at buying a 1999 Dakota Club Cab, 4x4 v6, 107,000 miles, $6950. The truck is in excellent condition. I currently have a 4cyl Chevy S-10 and I hate it. I want to get out of the payments and I want a Dakota. Just wondering what everyone is seeing for a "life expectancy" on the Dakota. Is it worth it to spend the $7000 on the truck with 107,000 miles. Please let me know. Thanx

I wouldn't, especially a 4x4 V-6. It's a gutless ride and you can expect the t-case to have issues very shortly. Lot's of $$$$.

Buying a used 4x4 is like buying a used condom. It's OK until it breaks, then you're in a world of shlt.

too many miles for that money. and as mentioned by graham, if you're looking for performance, too much truck for a v6.

I say you'd be better off to look for a V8 if you're interested in a Dakota. I currently have an S10 myself, with the ZR2 package. It has a 4.3 liter V6 and is under-powered. I can't imagine the Dakota V6 being much better. I'd go for a V8, preferably with less miles. You'll pay more, but it's worth it in the long run.

Good luck!
