Looks like they are back to the box design again
Then again i wasnt all to happy when dodge made the dakota look like the ram anyway with the GenII
i guess dodge lost its imagination
even the charger and the maginum look like the damn ram

hate it. damn shame they did that to the truck. Dealer told me the Germans designed it. The low front bumper is supposed to perform better in front end crashes, but that is not what is ugly about it. I have an 02 and it is a thing of buety from all angles. can not spell

I like it. Everyone who's commented on it to me in real life has liked it also. And even ignoring the looks the new truck drives nicer, has more towing capacity for equivalent combinations to the old model, and has safety features the old model never had (side curtain air bags for example.)

Personally, the new Ram, Durango, Dakota, Magnum, etc, etc all look like crap. All of these vehicles have the front end that looks like a Freightliner. The interior looks cheasy and out of this world on most of them. Maybe its me or I'm too attached to my 00 Dak. Just my 2 cents.

The 05 has no chance in my garage.
At first, i thought i was a little nostalgic, because DC made my 2000 model tobe an older design truck, but it didn`t take long at all for me to realize how ugly it is, and from any point of view, it hurts the eyes w/ its desproportional
lines and distorted confronting angles.
I think DC did to Dakotas what BMW did to the 7 series. Ruined.

as the old saying goes "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". i just don't like the looks. if you like it that's great. in fact the best looking NEW trucks that are out now IMO, are the Titan and Tacoma. the new fords and chevy's are UGLY. the gmc's are ok.

ugly... was parked at the airport a couple of weeks ago and when I came back there was an white 05 parked right next to my white 00 SLT QC. good chance for a real good side-by-side comparison, and in my opinion, not much of a comparison. the 05 just looks big, boxy and ugly. the frontend is way too big and droops too close to the ground. the bedsides and tail looked OK, but then again, the round part of the tail lights are getting close to ricey looking...

I like it. I'm considering trading my 01 2WD SLT in on one. I've had it for 4 years, that's long enough. Before my current Dak I had a 97 4X4 SLT.
If I do get a new Dak, it will have an 8 for sure. The 3.9 sucks gas and sucks ass and I imagine the 3.7 Jeep motor is the same.
My vote: I love the styling of the new Dak and I'll probably own one soon :)

It'd be more correct to say that there are German influences in new Mopars. I really doubt that Mercedes had all the CATIA licenses moved across the ocean when the merger occured.

I dont like it either. I want to so bad, but cannot. I have so many good memories of my current dakota. I would love a newer version of the same truck, but they completely ruined it. When the 97 dakotas came out, I could not believe how awesome they were! I love dodge and wish the new dakota would be great. If it was atleast decent looking I would probably like it.

I disagree with the genII dakotas even tho i own one
i like the truck itself
but i think that dodge was overly successful with the ram that they are trying to make all the dodges look like it
the magnum charger dakota all have the same grill design and basic front end design as the ram
untill this year
i think that each should have their own design
im not thrilled with the genII dakota
and i would not be caught dead in a 2005 dakota

sharing grills is nothing new with dodge
genIII dakota shared with the previous ram, as also with the stratus, the intrepid, the viper and even the minivans.
this year the dakota looks more like the new durango and not enough like the new ram.

They are trying to have a FUGLY competition with the Ridgeline. Except at least the Dakota IS still a real truck :p
So if anyone who buys a NEW truck can at least know they have a REAL truck if they buy an '05
Other than that. I'll keep my '03 and keep fixing it up a bit.

Really Buuuuuuuutttttt ugly. Both the 05 Dak and the new Durango are awful for looks. I like the looks of my 04 Dak QC 4X4, and the similar Durangos. If I needed another new truck right now don't know what I'd buy. Will try to keep mine for long time.
A lot of other vehicles are ugly too, including all the new GM / Chev trucks. That odd shape on the Titan tailgate looks real weird too!

05 body style
Looks like crap (white rice) Just My 2 cents.
02 QC 4X4,auto,3.55's 4.7 with the usual mods. My last dodge was a 6T8 R/T charger 440 six pack 4 speed Black/white R/T stripes in the rear. High 13's to Mid. 14's depending on traction.
My current fun ride:
96 Vette ZR1 6 sp. 4 cams,16 fuel injectors,32 valves, Factory rated@405 HP, with usual mods and Borla ex. 475 tire shreading HP. This Vette has giving several Vipers a good run. win a few lose a few. Oh well...............
