Subject: Dimming aftermarket gauges?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a few aftermarket gauges on my '97. I had the light switch out and tested for a voltage that varies with the dimmer. The only one I found was one that varied from 12.1 to 12.7 V. It doesn't seem like that is enough variation for a light.

I have also heard from people that newer vehicles have a "dimming" signal and each thing that dims uses this signal to adjust the brightness.

What do you guys think??

No one knows how to tap into the factory wiring to dim aftermarket gauges?

There is a dimmer control wire that is sent out to the radio. Find that wire then trace it back and you should be good to tap into it.
