Subject: Dimming aftermarket gauges? IP: Logged
Message: I have a few aftermarket gauges on my '97. I had the light switch out and tested for a voltage that varies with the dimmer. The only one I found was one that varied from 12.1 to 12.7 V. It doesn't seem like that is enough variation for a light.
I have also heard from people that newer vehicles have a "dimming" signal and each thing that dims uses this signal to adjust the brightness.
What do you guys think??

Message: There is a dimmer control wire that is sent out to the radio. Find that wire then trace it back and you should be good to tap into it.
