FRANKFURT, Germany - DaimlerChrysler CEO Juergen Schrempp, the architect of the 1998 merger that married Daimler-Benz to Chrysler, will leave the company by the end of the year and turn over the reins to Dieter Zetsche, now head of the U.S.-based Chrysler Group, the company said Thursday.

Aside from the buyout of Chrysler, Shremp hadn't grown the company.

Why does the US media still refer to the sale of Chrysler as a "merger"? It was an outright takeover.

Guess it softens the blow of having the number three US automaker become a German company?

Actually chrysler product line was revived. However the Mercedes line tanked.

it's a meger because some of the board from chrysler are on the board of DC. And the name says so.
