Message: I have owned my Dak for almost a year now. Took delivery Aug of last year. The deicision to buy was somewhat hasty due to the fact Dodge offered me a great deal, but only if I acted in a short time period. I did some quick research and went to check out the truck. I owned a nissan before this and never thought of myself as the type to buy an american vehicle. I also have heard stay away from dodge bla bla. Needless to say i picked up the dakota. 2004 cc, 4x4, Hd suspension and cooling package with auto. From the start i loved the truck. It handles great, had plenty of power and room. After reading some post on here i started to worry that i might have problems with the truck. This truck was purchased with offroading in mind. I take out the truck about every weekend and play on the trails. it has been though about every type of offroad terrain and performed excellent, even when i have been hard on it. It now sports 32" dunlop tires, custom built skid plates, mopar hitch, and custom front tow hooks. out of all the trucks I offroad with this dodge had been the most reliable. it has towed overheating chevys and strapped so many fords i cant even count. Even strapped a couple h2's. I have had almost no issues with this truck and what small issues I had were dealt with by my friendly dodge dealer. I see so many negative post I just wanted to offer a different view from a very pleased owner. If i had to i would make the same choice all over again. this is a link to my photobucket account so you can see some of the trails i have had my dakota on

Message: Im it the same boat, I bought mine in November of 04, its the first truck i've ever owned, I bought it used and have been very happy with it. I replaced the balljoints on it but the thing had 106000miles on oringinal joints, I had no problem with that, there are very few vehicles where joints last that long. I like the look of the truck, the power, etc. People on here seem to think that only our trucks break, try looking at a Chevey or Ford forum, you will see the exact same thing. All things considered I would buy another Dakota in a heart beat.
Might as well add some pics to: http://photobucket.com/albums/y157/justme84/

Message: If my truck hasn't broke after some of the stunts I've done off road, I think it's a pretty damn solid truck!

2 yrs and few problems. Nothing I couldn't fix so easily that I still have yet to take it in for WARRANTY repairs.

Message: I think all the people with problems just don't know how to drive their trucks.

Message: Mine is a 02 4x4 Sport with 4.7 and tow package.
It now has 25k. Very low miles because I park it
just about all summer to drive my "Chick Magnet"
79 AMC Concord Wagon.
I must say, it's hands down better than a S10 or
Ranger. Only reason I bought it was for the room
in a smaller truck plus V8 for towing my 26'travel
trailor.
It has had the factory recall on the ball joints
and one was replaced before the recall. The front
rotors have been replaced and I used ceramic pads.
I don't *trust* the tranny. I'll never buy another
auto in a DC product again. My *friendy* Dodge
dealer, well that's another story.
All in all I like it! I told my better half just
the other day my next truck will be full size
because we are thinking of a fifth wheel camper.
I see Dodge no longer offers extended cab full
size trucks SO when it's time to buy the full size
it WILL NOT be a Dodge!
Just my two cents worth guys...

Message: I got a 98 CC 4x4 V8 auto on the 4th of July this year. The ball joints were replaced free since the dealer guaranteed it would pass VA inspection. It didn't, so they did it for free!
Everything on the truck is great and it only had 66k on it. This is my first vehicle and I think I made the right decision. Pics:

Message: I agree totally with scott1981. My 02 4x4 QC has been great. I've got 39k on mine and it's been almost trouble free.
I run only mobil 1 oil and I also recently had my dodge dealer change the fluids in the trans and both axles cause I plan on keeping this truck.
I like the looks, handling, size and love the 4.7. I too will definatly buy another dodge when the time comes.
