Subject: Another tire question IP: Logged
Message: We don't do any off roading with our 02 dakota QC 4x4, just towing. I live in WI, plenty of snow and rain. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these tires? Continental Sport LT/SUV 265/70/16. $99 each at Wal-Mart with 80,000 mile warranty. Right now I have good year wranglers with 37,000 miles on them and they are almost done :(
So, Anyone have any experience with the above Continental tire in snow and rain? How about noise? Also, I like the fatty look of the current Good Year Wrangler on my truck, will the Continental look like that?
I know there are a lot of BF fans on this site, but I just can't afford paying $150 a tire.

Message: They are crap, they lasted about 40k on my Dak.
I have Kelly SUV tires 235 70R15, 60k have lasted 74k so far and I drive hard. They were only 80.00 each. I live in NW Indiana so I know about snow also, they are great in all incliment weather.

Message: I have the toyo open country at's on my 98 reg cab. Good all around tire, pretty quiet on the highways and haven't gotten stuck in the snow here in WI yet. (granted i carry 280 lbs of sand in the winter in the bed but without having 4wd and a 5spd it makes getting going easy) I previously had the widetrack baha at's and they sucked even on wet roads. Got my set of toyos during a buy 3 get 4th free promo and only spent $400. Went with the LT235/75/15.

I have these on my Grand Cherokee , these are crap. I just had one come apart on the left front going 75 mph down the interstate. Took out the inner fender, front bumper mount, fender and door side moldings, and rocker panel is destroyed. Lucky that it didn't cause a serious accident. 80,000 miles ??? Lucky to get 40,000 if they don't fly apart first.

Message: TO THE PERSON WHO POSTED RESPONSE THAT THE CONTINENTAL SPORT SUV/LT TIRE HAD SEPERATION ON GRAND CHEROKEE... I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO SEPERATE FAILURES IDENTICAL THIS SUMMER WITH SAME TIRES BOUGHT IN 2004 WITH 30K MILES. HAVE YOU FILED COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA ONLINE? IF THEY ARE ALERTED BY ENOUGH FOLKS WITH SAME PROBLEM THEY MAY RECALL AND YOU MAY GET FULL REFUND VS PRO-RATE.

Message: Thanks guys. I still have the oem BF goodrich long trail 275 60R17 on my ford truck, they have 70K on them now. I was thinking about getting the continental from walmart since I dont have much tread left. Since its summer and Lincoln's head is still partly obscured on a penny test, I think I will wait a few months and save up for some more of the same tires I have...as apposed to something that is gonna explode. I do 75+++ on the interstate at times, and I dont need nothing thats gonna blow apart on me.

Message: Got Toyo Open Country M410s on my 04 Quad CAb 4x4. Ride is a little rough but they keep me moving right along even in fairly deep snow in 2wd up until I hit a hill and it's alot harder to spin them in rain that it ever was with the stock Goodyear Wranglers. Ride is a little rough but they have 20 thousand miles now and still don't look like they're halfway worn yet.
Next will be the Bridgestone Dueller AT REVOs in another year or so. DOn't cheap out on tires. THe biggest cheapskate always ends up spending the most money.
