Subject: TKO500 - Installation begins!

After many months of horribly uncomfortable anticipation, the wait is over. The installation of my Tremec TKO500 5-spd trans into my 2001 4.7 has begun.

Nearly 100,000 miles have been endured with the 45RFE sponge-O-matic, and it's time to actually put most of my power to the drive wheels.

Not a whole lot got done last night (basically just got the old trans out), but today we expect a bunch more progress. Although the Keisler auto-to-manual swap kit is supposed to be "complete", I still - at this point - am guessing that there's gonna be driveline-length issues.... I'll find out soon, huh?

I'll post information (good AND bad) at the end of each day as the project progresses.

Not much progress to report today....

Keisler sent the wrong flywheel, clutch, and bellhousing, and didnt bother to send the pedal assy bushings, so at this point, the old trans is out, and the clutch master cylinder is in.

Before I get too negative about Keisler, let's see how fast they'll respond with shipping the correct parts.
