Subject: AC Specifications IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone have the low-side/high-side/rpm specs for an '02 dakota air-conditioning system. I charged my system to the factory amount but it is still acting erratic. I prefer not to use generic specs for the readings and would prefer to use the factory specs. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Message: Not sure but it always varies with temperature. The hotter it is outside the higher the head pressure.
Good rule is 35 back pressure at about 1500 rpms, with a cold suction line at the compressor.
If you weighed the charge in by the factory amount specified, it should be right on.

Message: The way I do them is I charge to 35lbs. then I race the motor to about 2000rpm's, if the compressor cuts out I add a little more gas. Repeat until compressor stays running.

Message: That'll work too Menis but, but if you add too much......, you really nead to check the head pressure too. If your condenser fan isn't coming on you can have a big problem if your head pressure switch fails. Ever see a refrigeration hose explode? Not pretty.
