Subject: Problem with radio

Ok I just bought my 1998 Dakota ext cab sport and LOVE it. However, there is a question I have to ask. My stock stereo isn't working. When you turn the truck on, and turn the stereo on, the speakers pop like it is trying to turn on but nothing. No display, no sound, nothing. Tried a stereo that was known to be working when pulled and got the same result. All the fuses and wires appear to be in good shape (gray connector, black connector, and ground clip) and I am at a loss for what to try next. Thoughts/suggestions/ideas. Thanks

There is a shorted speaker wire or a blown speaker and the only way to find it is to pull everything out start behind the radio and as you take each componet out check see if it turns on. When you find the short your radio should come on unless the radio is fryed. I did car audio for 10yrs+ and saw this problem alot especially with custom audio componets
