Message: You should have no problems.
3500 lbs is the minimum capacity I've heard of on any small pick-up.
That was the case on a 4cyl '87 S-10 and a 4cyl '93 Nissan I owned.
Expect you gas mileage to suck though.
Your owners manual will tell you the exact towing limitations.

Message: Yes, and no. Like he said, that's about the max tow rating for the V6. The truck should handle the weight without any problems.
The engine's a bit underpowered, especially if you're towing at altitude. If you want the engine and trans to last, you've got to take it easy. Keep max speed down, and be patient with acceleration. Try not to use more than 75% or so throttle, and it will be fine. Too many people hook up a big trailer, and then try and drive the truck the same as when it's empty.

Message: I have checked into it too and i was told that I can get an rv up to 4300lbs and the truck will pull it with no prob, I think the actual problem is the engine because the same truck with a v-8 will pull over 5000lbs

Message: Do you have the tow package ? If not, a transmission cooler would be a good idea; and don't forget an electronic trailer brake controler for stopping. For best handling, make sure you have decent tongue weight - too little and it will push the truck around. Have fun with your camper, on vacation with mine in about a week.
