I just did buy a dak. '98 CC 4x4 sport 318,3.92LSD, emerald green, loaded, had a jet chip and aftermarket muffler, rhinoliner and tonneau when I baught it. Bad lower ball joints, but the place that inspected it prior to the purchase replaced both for free.

oh... I almost forgot. it has 67099 miles. It had 66xxx when I got it, but I've put the mileage on from driving from Fairfax to Waldorf, an hour each way, not including beltway traffic. I've made 3 trips there for them to replace the lower ball joints. Well worth it because they did it for free!

Figgols just shut up. You should have bought a if you don't have good tast and I see that you don't. We all know that dodge makes the best truck out there and there sales prove it. And then you get stupid and buy piece of Sh@T GM truck with thats don't even come close the the Dodge Big horn editon. Do you got a 345 HP hemi?? I don't think so.
All you people bashing dodge the new 05 Dakota has no tast and should be booted to a ford message board.

i have an 04dak i like the truck alot and plan to keep it so far its been good now as in buying another dakota most likely not im guessing im done buying dakotas my first one is a 93 which is trouble free my 00dakota has giving me minor problems and so far this 04 is going great but as in buying another one its a no.

I love my 2001 2 wheel drive Dakota crew cab. Ball joints did go bad and that's the only thing ever replaced on it (41,000 miles). I like it because its fairly powerful (4.7 V8) and will pull 20 ft boat real easy.
I'm not sure though I would buy another -- only reason gas mpg. I get 12 mpgs around town and 17-18 on the highway. With gas at 2.25 gallon, I think a smaller truck would be a better, but then a small truck couldn't pull my 20 ft boat very well. DODGE -- PLEASE IMPROVE THE MPG, then you'll have a perfect truck!

I have always been lurking around this site and would like to chime in with my first post. I have a 2002 QC Dakota AWD SLT+ with a 4.7 I bought this truck new. This is my work truck that gets driven alot. I have right now about 100K on the truck. Just this weekend I did a complete brake job the first and Put new tires and shocks on it, the first. As well as a set of plugs whick was the first set. All I have run is all synthetics in the engine, trans, case, and diffs.
The brakes in the last 12 months started to pulsate, warped rotors. The tires were worn but still had legal tread and the shocks were bad. Still ran great but I new it needed new plugs.
The left upper ball joint is a little loose and will take it into the dealer for the recall. This will be the first time back to the dealer.
Also I just bought a LT sport X-treme flat tonue cover which will be going on when it comes in. I plan to keep the truck for quite a while.
When I bought this truck I had quite a bit of pains about it as I have always been a GM guy or have owned many german sports cars, but this truck is every bit as good as any GM truck that I have owned if not better.
Would I buy another. Yes as long as they did not look like the 2005 which I find quite ugly. I hope Dodge goes back to a more flowing design rather than what they have now a squared off box.
By the way I get 17.5 around town and a couple of weekends ago with the tailgate down and cruise set a 70 got right at 21 on the highway which I think is pretty good for a AWD truck.

Okay, now that I'm done demonstrating absurdity by being absurd...
I really like my '05. About my only gripes are that the Club Cab rear seats seem to be lower to the floorpan than in my dad's '93/'95 Club Cabs, and that the top of the windshield is a mite low (probably for aerodynamic reasons.) The suspension is excellent and the truck seems very well assembled and thoughtfully engineered. I'd probably get another one if at that time it makes sense to.
