Subject: Stumped about Stalling IP: Logged
Message: I have recently bought a 91 Dakota 2.5 as a daily driver for work, it has been having a wierd stalling issue. I can start it fine and it will stay running in the mornings, but as soon as i start driving down the road it will cut out and be a real bear to start and stay running for a good 5-10 min. After a while it will start and run fine all day. Ive changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and changed out a bad t-stat. I am stumped on what it could be seeing how i now almost the minimum on auto repair. Pls, any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Message: You need to get a fuel pressure gauge hooked up and drive it 'till the stalling begins. Look for fluctuation and replace your fuel pump if it proves to be your cause.

Message: It if was the fuel pump, would it only do it in the mornings and then work fine the rest of the day? Thats the only part that I cant get myself to beleive that its a fuel problem. If the gauge isnt hard to come by or hookup, ill gladly try anything ;). Could it be a sensor? I ran a diagnostic check with the "check engine" light and a #11 came up meaning the crankshaft sensor might be bad, but would that cause the same symptoms that i'm seeing?

Message: BUMP
Pls anyone, i realized this morning that you dont even need to drive it for it to stall, i started it and let it warm up and it stalled after about 8-10 minutes, then i had to start it with starting fluid. I really need this fixed and i know there are a lot of highly inclined gearheads in here that know what this could be, thanks in advance. -Josh

Message: Your model year may be less advanced than mine, but having the PCM software "flashed" (updated) took care of a stalling problem for me. I have a '97 3.9L V6 5-speed. It would stall whenever I would dis-engage the clutch while coming to a stop.
