Subject: Overdrive and cruise don't work IP: Logged
Message: I just got a 91 Dodge Dakota with 105K miles.
It runs great, but sometimes the overdrive and
cruise control don't work. The next time I drive
it, they're both fine. Any thoughts out there?

Message: Here's a thought. It's a fine bit of southern logic, and it goes like this:
"Right away I seen I had a problem."

Message: I had a caravan that sometimes would not go into overdrive. When it did this I did not try to put the cruise control on. I do not know if your problem is at the same time. Anyway it was a sure sign of a major tranny problem. It was not worth a new one so i just drove it to the ground. Does that help you at all? I am sure it doesn't. Hopefully it is just a sensor like jjj says. When I had my van checked out there were metal shavings in the screen. Have you had your tranny checked out? I assume it's an automatic. and a 91 with only 105k onn it. Did grandma keep for church and groceries?
