you think with the tech available to the manufacturers now that they wouldn't have safety's and lockouts programmed into the PCM's to prevent you from doing something stupid like that by now.
try it and the truck probably wouldn't start. then you'd have to bring it to the dealer for them to fix it. i'd like to see someone explain their way out of that one.

Speed sensor is in the rear end; "nope" is just guessing and likely talking out his ass about your truck shutting down. People would be pissed if a bad speed sensor stranded them. It is a sleazy thing to do though; and you can get caught if someone notices wear patterns on the truck don't seem to match the milage.

Im not sure if the truck would just shut down but i DO know that the engine will go into limp mode and wont shift past 2nd gear ........ mine went bad

Bad idea all the way. With all the electronic control on these modern engines, it'll cause lots of problems. The PCM relies on a lot of input from the speed sensor.

Why don't you give it a try and let us know?
The Speed Sensor does many more things than just add numbers to the odometer. Let us know what error codes you get.
