I have a 96 Dakota. The DEQ told me that my data link connection has no power so they can't run their test. I bought the truck used and I noticed that the relay and the fuse for the ABS are both missing. Does the ABS power the DLC? or should I look elsewhere for the problem?

The ABS relay/fuse does not power the ALDL...... ALDL is the correct name for the connection.... as for power... look at pin 16.. probe it for +12v power. the connector is labled 1 to 16 from left to right ..pin 16 is the one on the bottom right.. 1 is at the top left.. ill have too look in my book to see where it is pulling power from.... and while you are there you should have metallic pins at 2,4,5, and 16 ..
