Subject: Folding Tonneau Cover? IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone seen the folding 4 piece tonneau cover from mopar ? It is supposed to have an aluminum frame. I hear different reports that the actual cover is foam. I am looking for security and am wondering how strong this type of cover would be. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Kris

Message: I considered buying that cover when I ordered my truck, but DC wouldn't let one go for less than $760.00. I soon found the Advance folding tonneau on the 'net ($490.00), and the results are :
It's built out of aluminum - 3/4" thick w/ a black anodized finish (leather/vinyl-type grain embossed into the metal) on both sides. This is the most versatile cover I've ever seen. The front or rear sections flip open independantly (both lock), the rear three sections stack onto the front, or ONE person can easily remove the whole thing.
I'm sure when these covers have been available for awhile, we'll see a lot of 'em.

Message: I have an Advance Cover for my F-350 powerstroke and have a tough time recommending it until I do a little research and talk with their tech department. My complaint is it seems to need frequent adjustment and it doesn't provide a tight seal to the bed. The seal can be improved with some weather stripping. The folding design is great and gives excellent access to the bed but it tends to get out of alignment every month or so and the tailgate lock doesn't line up. I'm positive its installed correctly, and every bolt is a extremely tight. I just haven't had time to call Advance Cover to see if they have made any improvements or have a fix. I would talk with them before you buy. Mine is a little over a year old. I bought it at Dave's Tonneau Covers in Denver. Good Luck

Message: Dan-O
I have an 2001 F250 Crew Cab (bought late 2000) and have had an Advance Cover on it since the day I bought it. I installed it myself and have never had a problem with it moving or needing any adjustments (not saying it couldn't happen). Let me know what you find out from Advance Cover (just in case it starts moving on me). Thanks
There is some water leakage but I believe it is through the cracks in the tailgate. The only water I've had has been in the corners and it could be soaked up with a napkin.
There is a new dealer in my area coming to the web on Oct. 1st. They tell me it will be the most informative website about the Advance Cover. They are only selling this cover. They will have lots of pictures to help with installation questions probably the lowest price on the web (I'll let them post it before I say anything). They may have a temp site up before then but not until Oct. 1 for the full site.
Thanks for reading
