Subject: Signal indicators IP: Logged
Message: I'm having a problem with my 2000 Dakota.
When I turn on my left or right indicator, it will blink for approx. 8 times before stopping. I then have to turn it off and back on to get it to start working again (and when it does it will only blink indicate for 3 or 4 times before stopping).
Do I have to replace my bulb? And why are both indicators affected?
Any help would be appreciated...(before someone runs into me from the rear)..

Message: If it's both right and left signals doing the same thing, it's probably the turn signal blinker relay. I'm not sure if Dakotas have regular mechanical relays or electronic ones but that would be a good place to start.
Sometimes if a turn signal bulb is blown, that could make the turn signal not work right. As long as all the bulbs work, that shouldn't be the problem though...

Message: Thanks for the feedback.
Anyone know about the turn signal relay?
How do I replace or investigate?
Thanks again

Message: check your manual in the fuse section. In my 95 there is a square relay. On some vehicles they are round.
They are usually silver or black.
