 Subject: Power Steering Pump Died

I was out this last weekend doing some donuts for like 2 or 3 min. Than I was going to park the truck. when I was pulling away from the field my Power steering went out. I am not leaking any thing, fluid is full, and the pully is turning fine. I found 1 post on another web site about the same thing. I was wondering if any 1 else has done this? Also do you think it is a bad pump or am I missing something, should I look for something else that may have broken?

You must have F--d up the steering actuator (Rack and pinion or steering gear). It's probably not able to deliver the pressurized fluid for power assist. Your habit of doing donuts probably had something to do with it. It's a passenger vehicle not a toy.

LOL, Thanks for yelling at me "Dad". As a matter of fact this was my 1st time going out and doing donuts. I fixed it yesterday, the shaft the the pully is connected to snaped in half. Pulled the pump out, put the pully on the new pump, put rhe resivor on the new pump, put the pump back in the truck, connecrted the lines, put the belt back on, added fluid, turned the truck on let it run a little while added more fluid, DONE!

Heh. Now I would understand if you did have a leak going lock to lock like that.
