Subject: 93 Dodge Dakota IP: Logged
Message: intermitent starting problem. my 93 dakota 3.9, 5 speed, 120,000 miles has a random restart problem more often in hot weather when it does start it will keep running no ctting out or dieing problem when trying to restart turns over will not start. wait a short time will start and sometimes not. I have replaced computer, Crankshaft sensor,Fuel pump,Fuel filter,Rotor ,Cap, Plug wires, Plugs still random problem it can go months no problem then problem occurs again just never no when will happen. I have unwraped much of wireing harness check for bad splices none found cleaned all connectors get frustrated go away for awhile come back without doing anything truck starts drive to store stop come out will not start wait a few minuits then starts allways differant pattern. Thanks for any info.

Message: I also have a 93 w\5.2 did the samething to me only when hot.so I got pissed and started to remove the wire loom off the left fender to trace wires and low and behold there it was bad splice just under the relay box.Repaired it and have not had a problem sence...Hope that helps..Goodluck

Message: Thanks for the info. I have allredy unwraped most of wiring even the area you described splices looked great no problem their. Never had this problem when living in CA only started after moving to AZ not saying cause of problem was move, thought i would mention anyway.what is so mading is the random ocurance of problem. Thanks everyone still trying all sugestions.

Message: I lived in AZ and that could very well be your problem,maybe a move back to CA would make it happier..lol

Maybe a bad or loose ground like pettie said...

Message: I have replaced Cam positon sensor/ Switch plate/ Mag picup/ truck working now was giving blinking engine check light code 54. After replaceing above no more code sent keeping fingers crossed. Thanks to all for help
