Mine is doing the same thing with 38k. My uncl, mechanic, said it's because they run such low rpm at highway speed to save gas that you should turn off OD when running it at a fast speed to stop it from doing this, mine only runs 2200 at 75. He said it should be around 25-2700.

Do you ever tow or abuse it to cause anything funny to happen. I just bought my truck and am wondering if it was abused or used hard.

sounds like your TPS (throttle position sensor) is on it's way out, and your torque converter is unlocking/locking randomly.. is it happening at steady throttle?

It's a pretty cheap part, and an easy fix (2 torx screws on the driver's side of the throttle body) I don't remember if it's T-20 or T-25 torx size though..

daffydak is right. I had the same thing happening a year or so ago. It is the TPS. I would have the cruise at 65 and the rpms would jump about 300 or so and fall back down. Very easy fix. I replaced mine with a standard mopar one from the dealer (I don't remember how much, maybe $40?) and have not had any more problems. Good luck.

Jeffro,
Could you feel it fluctuating or was it just the tach bouncing around?
I've got the exact same problem, but I can really feel mine when it jumps around.
I am debating replacing the TPS...
