Anyone have a list of computer fault codes for a '97 Dakota?
My check engine light is on and cycling the key 3 times is giving me a 12 fault code.

12 is battery recently disconnected.

has the battery been disconnected recently? If not, how old is the battery? Had it tested recently?

Yea, I just repaired the battery terminal. Allpar says though that if it is 12 the battery code, I shouldn't get the check engine light. Also how can I reset it? If I disconnect the battery for 30 mins it will just do it again.

You should ALWAYS get code 55 ("end of message") after all other codes. If you only got 12 and not 55, you stopped looking too soon and may have other codes.

Code 12 will go away after approximately 30 to 40 start cycles of the ignition. But if the light is on, you have another, legitimate fault.

Yes, my check engine light is on all the time and the truck is running crappy, so I know it's on for a reason. I tried the key again, but got no other codes, including 55. I do three key turns, then the odometer goes blank, the check engine light goes out, then the odmeter reads 12 and stays like that until you turn it off. I waited on it for 5 mins.

Then perhaps the ECM is faulty, if it won't give all the codes.

P-done is a good thing. This means you do not have any fault codes as of right now.
