Subject: FLIPPIN' TRUCK WON'T START AGAIN!!!!!!!!

I own a recently acquired 2001 V6 Dakota SLT. It is in seemingly great condition. Glossy Paint, Clean interior, low miles (25000). I was so happy to get my new truck. Well its been about six months since I bought it and let me tell you, the love affair is OVER. This truck is a freakin' money pit! After owning it for a month or two it started to leave me sitting in parking lots. I'd go somewhere and stay for about 20-30 minutes then I would come back outside and try to start my truck and guess what happened... NOTHING! It would just crank and crank and crank but never turn over. Of course once I took it to the shop the problem wouldn't occur and the mechanic would tell me that the truck is fine, then once I took it back the problem would occur again. The dealership has finally been able to duplicate the problem and they said they fixed it by replacing some crankshaft sensor. Well they didn't fix a damn thing. In fact, the dealer has claimed to fix it 3 different times now, and the problem still happens. I have researched the hell out of this issue and Dakotas in generel and I have found that many dakotas have similar problems. I have also found that dakotas are slower and weaker than comparable trucks from other manufacturers. Bottom line is this, Dodge Dakotas are gigantic pieces of SH!T!!!!!!!!!!!! I am selling this truck and I will never by Dodge, or any Daimler-Chrysler vehicle again. Dakotas Suck. I have learned my lesson. If you want a mid-size to light pick-up truck then be smart and buy a Toyota Tacoma. At least you know that the jap-made trucks will start everytime, and run forever. They should change the name Dakota to DaSLOWta.

Did you buy it from a private party or dealership? Maybe you should get your money back from the dealership? I hope you didn't let them change the same thing 3 times and charge you 3 times?

Maybe you should take it to another dealer? independent?

You're too dumb to own any vehicle and Tacoma's are built in California, not Japan.

sounds to me that you only took the truck to the same dealer all three times and got ripped off all three times, usually you shop around after the second time, but if you claim that they could not fix the problem three times then your vehicle would qualify for the lemon law, but coming onto a dakota web site and insulting the dakota truck in general is not cool.

My truck looks like it was in a knife fight, and lost! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/1275365

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, as you know Diamler Chrysler is not responsible for the improper repair of vehicles past thier warranty period. In fact we do a pretty poor job of repairing them within the warranty period. If you would like we will be more than happy to give you fair trade in for your broken peice of sh1t truck on a new 2005 Dodge Dakota, PLUS a $1000 owner loyalty rebate.

Not too mention if you go to a TACOMA website, they have PLENTY of break downs over there as well.

Every manufacture does.
And to say a Taco runs forever and star t and run every time compared to???? that is fictional as well. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your truck, That would be a pain in the a$$, Dont be so quick to go and spend more money on another brand of truck, they all break! Im sure youre problem can be sorted out by a compitent mechanic, In the meantime if it is a problem related to electronics, bring a 8mm wrench with you and the next time it happens and your stuck, disconnect the battery and turn your ignition on and hold it there for a bit then reconnect your battery. This will reset the computer and hopefully restart your truck, its worth a try and it might narrow down the problem for the compitent mechanic, by the way when my crank sensor went on my truck it stalled cold turkey and would not start agian at all, had it replaced and no probs since..Good luck with your troubles just rethink your options before you trade,

THEY ALL BREAK DOWN because they are man made.

Well, sounds like you guys really feel my pain. LOL! Just to let everyone know, I have taken the truck to a different shop on more then one occassion. I also know that Tacomas have their own problems too. Every vehicle can have its problems. To respond to your comments about warranty and dealership issues, I will tell you this. I bought the truck off my grandfather who never once had a problem with it. In fact, he rarely drove it and always parked it in the garage, which explains the low miles and good condition. So needless to say, I don't think my grandfather was trying to rip me off. Also the trucks manufacturer warranty is expired, and I don't qualify for any no-lemon law since i didn't get it from a dealer. Plus, I haven't paid the dealer for every visit since the problem occured, so I haven't been giving them money hand over fist. So all of you who have some sort of problem with me insulting Dodge Dakotas need to check your ego. The fact is this. My personal experience with Dakotas, Dodge dealerships, and Dodge in general has been a terrible one. And even if my truck didn't turn out to be a lemon I still wouldn't be happy with it since its twice as slow as my old V6 Yota.

As I said I bought Dakota off of my Grandfather. He sold it to me for 6500 bucks (which is what he was offered to trade it in). 2001 with 22000 miles when I bought it from him. Blue Book value when i checked was between 12000-18000 dollars. I got it for a steal. What would you have done?
