Subject: Sunroof: factory? IP: Logged
Message: Did Dak's ever offer a factory sunroof? I found a 95 SLT with one, but not sure it's factory. The seller says it "leaks a little"... yeah, right.
Thanks!

Message: Never seen one and if it 'leaks a little' I'd be worried about how much it's leaking into the roof seams.
My view...a leak = pass.

Message: Ken, thanks for your comment. I went and saw the old tub tonight. The guy had said, "it leaks just a little bit". I didn't see any stains, but looking on top of the roof, I saw that he had it "sealed" with ragged, deteriorated clear PACKING TAPE. Duhhhhh...
He also kept harping about how "it needs a new gasket... worse case: $300". Yeah, right. I asked him to operate the roof, and it was readily apparent that the problem was not the gasket, but the linkage. The thing would not even close. The problem was obvious: the locking clamps were not being forced into the clamped position. That excuse for a sunroof will cost someone $1000 minimum, and it won't be me.
Tomorrow, I'm going to go buy the 1993 V8 4x4. It has the same mileage: 158K, and the price is the same. I just had to go see the truck with the sunroof for a reality check.
Thanks for your comment!
