Subject: A/C problems IP: Logged
Message: 2000 V8 Sport factory air. A/C stoped working, took it to a shop and they replaced the accumulator and refilled it with 134a. Now the compressor runs all the time, even when I turn it to vent. When I put it on A/C, then compressor doesn't cycle on and off. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Message: I've seen some reports on some vehicles where if you turn the defroster on, you can't get the compressor to stop even if you turn off the A/C or switch to another mode unless you turn the vehicle off.
you mentioned nothing about it running if you turn the a/c off. Does it stop if you turn the A/C off?

Message: THAT'S THE PROBLEM, THE COMPRESSOR DOESN'T SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN YOU TURN THE A/C OFF.

Message: Turn the air direction knob so that it only blows out of the instrument panel vents that aim at the driver and passenger, so you're not accidentally in any of the defrost settings. Press the A/C button to turn it off. Put the fan setting at slow speed. Does the compressor still run?
Turn the fan speed to OFF. Does the compressor still run?

Message: 2000 dak's don't have a separate a/c on/off button. the comp is only off in vent or floor mode.

Message: Amazing, 4 different people replied and none of them could read. It states in his original post that the compressor runs even when it is on vent which is off on the 2000 dakota. You masterminds have told him how to operate the buttons, bravo.

Message: Thanks Daddio
What else has a relay that will fit on the clutch to test it?
